Types of Complimentary Healing

By Magician

What Is Complimentary Healing?

Complimentary Healing is any system of 'healing' that is not classed as medical care, but works well with any medical treatment. It is meant to be used as a compliment to medical care, Aiding in the recovery process. It can work on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual, or all the levels to reduce stress and tension and promote well-being. There are many techniques/methods of doing complimentary healing. I shall describe some of them below.

Aromatherapy

This is where oils from plants carrying their scents (known as Essential Oils) are applied to the body in the forms of massage, or compresses, or they are used to fragrant the atmosphere is which the client is based. The scents work mainly on the brain, with different scents having the ability to stimulate or calm us, and bring balance to our emotions. Some oils also have beneficial effects when applied to the skin, such as Tea-Tree oil. Those that practise aromatherapy will have knowledge of the different oils and their properties, and will use the ones they feel most suited to the client and their current issues. With some oils there are contradictions, and the aromatherapist will be aware of these and not use certain oils with certain issues, such as Rosemary Oil with high blood pressure.

Crystal Healing

Crystal healers believe that crystals have their own vibrations, and these vibrations can aid in healing the body. Different crystals have different vibrations, which means they can be used for different issues. When someone goes for a crystal healing session, they are asked to lay down and then crystals are placed on the body in different positions, known as layouts depending on what is being treated. The recipient then relaxes whilst the crystals work on balancing the energy systems of the body. This can take from 20 mins upwards. Others will also carry different crystals with them as they go about their daily lives, benefiting from the healing properties of the crystals for as long as needed.

Spiritual/Psychic Healing

This is where a healer will channel universal energy into a recipient, With the intention of balancing the recipients energy, to release any dis-ease and dis-harmony. The healer may also guide the client through different meditations and exercises with the purpose of getting the client to release any 'blocks' in their energy. Spiritual/Psychic healers will work to remove the root cause of any issues, and not just ease the symptoms. This kind of healing can be done in person, or at a distance (remotely) depending on what works best for client and healer, and can be preformed hands on or off, depending on the preference of healer and client.

Reiki Healing

Reiki is a form of spiritual/psychic healing. The difference being those practising spiritual/psychic healing have to consciously connect to an outside source of energy, so they do not drain themselves, whereas those attuned to Reiki have an automatic connection, and they can turn on the healing energy just by intent.

If you are receiving a Reiki healing session, then you may be aware of and feel different sensations. You could feel heat, coolness, or tingling. These sensations may be where the healer is working, or somewhere else on your body, as Reiki will flow to where it is needed. You may also get flashbacks of the past of any issues that the Reiki is clearing. The thing with Reiki is you will only receive the amount of healing you can handle, and it will not clear anything that you are not ready to let go of yet.

To practise Reiki you need to receive an attunement from a Reiki master/teacher, whereas spiritual/psychic healing can be learnt from a book.

There is different levels of Reiki. Someone at Reiki 1 can channel healing hands on (or through the aura). Someone at Reiki two has techniques of remote/distant healing and also has knowledge of symbols they can use in the healing session. These symbols work on different levels, i.e. the power symbol will focus the energy and clear on the physical level, whereas the harmony symbol will clear and balance on the emotional/mental levels. Reiki 3 is known as the master level, at this level healer is known as a Reiki master/teacher and they have the knowledge of how to pass on attunements and can teach others.

There is many different modalities of Reiki, each adding something different. Usui Reiki, is what people think of and mean when they say Reiki This is the original system discovered by Dr Mikao Usui, and you just channel the energy. Then there is Kundalini Reiki that combines Reiki with kundalini energy to work on different frequencies, Angel Reiki works with the angels and Reiki to provide healing, and Ascension Reiki works with the beings of light known as the Ascended Masters to provide healing. My personal opinion is that each modality of Reiki, works with a different aspect of the energy, Just like white light can be split into the colours of the rainbow, you can work with Reiki as a whole or the different vibrations.

I have experience of working with and I am a master of Usui, Kundalini and Ascension Reiki. When I do a healing I don't separate the different systems, I might be doing a hands on healing and decide to channel a frequency of Kundalini Reiki, or I may be doing a distant session using the Kundalini Reiki methods but then get guided to send a Usui or Ascension Reiki symbol. Reiki is flexible and the only limitations are the ones we have about what the energy can do.

A guide to healing

By Scott4hypno

There are more paths and ways to do healing/are being done than space on this chat board to list the ways people do their healing... from crystals to music to colour/ dance/ sound/ drummed/ shamanic as well as the more 'usual' reiki/spiritual/laying on of hands styles we first think of... the only one of these i can really talk about with any conviction and knowledge is Spiritual Healing.

I have been a Healer with the Healer Practitioner Association International (affiliated with the Christian Spiritualist churches) for nearly 13 years now and for part of that time i was a Healer Trainer with them... running courses and helping people develop their skills.

I have worked on a huge variety of people with a equally huge variety of conditions and problems. I have also worked on dogs and cats and other critters and more recently have been drawn to work with horses.

As a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist I also use my healing during sessions..

I would like to remind you that what I am about to explain is merely the way I DO MY HEALING... not THE WAY to do healing.

I believe that the 'energy' I 'channel' when I do a healing session is LOVE.. from GOD / source / universe / Gaia / wherever.. something greater than us... and that I am guided in how I do it by my Spirit Guides and teachers / entities / angels etc

for a face to face healing:-

  • I still the house... candles .. soft non-intrusive music.. eg Enya.. Clannad etc rather than squeeling dolphins or whales... a chair that is comfortable for the person receiving healing... stand behind them and explain that all they have to do is sit and relax as much as they feel able... they may feel heat.. tingling.. cold.. or even nothing at all...
  • I take a couple of slow breaths to start my relaxation and I ask for that energy to be sent through me ... to go to where it is most needed... and to be for that persons HIGHEST good... sometimes I do this through a short internal prayer.. nowadays its more 'ok guys lets go'
  • I then visualise a tap above my head.. an old fashioned brass one with knobbly handle... the pipe connected straight upwards... and then I slowly turn it on... whilst asking for the most suitable energy for that person to be sent.... 'see' the 'water' /energy flowing in to the top of my head... across my shoulders.. and down my arms.. adding to it lots of thoughts of love and best wishes etc.... until it get to my hands.
  • I then place my hands gently above the persons shoulders for a few moments... allowing them to get used to my presence.. and the introduction of the energy...
  • Gradually opening the flow of the tap I then just relax in to it.... moving my hands to wherever I feel I should go... sometimes just looking for 'hot' feeling areas and spending time there.. sometimes just going to wherever I think I should be.. sometimes working on the Chakra centres (minor as well as major) usually just doing a mixture of them all.
  • Generally my hands do not touch the person at all except maybe their head or shoulders at start or finish (aware of the litigious society we all live in )
  • I keep doing this until I feel that I am done... or the person just becomes too sore to sit longer etc.. go back to the start point ... slowly close the tap... feeling the energy withdraw and saying a short thank you... I then gently touch the person to break the connection between us (hand on shoulder and asking how they feel etc.. making sure that they are fully back with me.

That is how I do a healing session usually....an outline.

For distance healing (when the person being 'worked' on isn’t in same place as you)

  • If its for someone who has asked for it to be done....
  • Still myself.... and visualise all of the above... sometimes this way you can 'see' the problem areas and can focus on them... but basically the same steps except by visualisation.

If you are sending just to a situation or person you feel needs it...

  • Same outline but this time I send it to the front porch of a log cabin (them) the door shut.. so I just leave it as a big present.. pouring the energy into it... so that if and when they wish it.. they can go out to the front step and accept it.... or not.
  • Both face to face and distance healing... I feel should be given when a person asks for them. though no healing is truly wasted... it will always be there for them when they are ready for it.

some do's and donts

do

  • Read lots.... Stephen O'brien and Betty Shine were great inspirations and help for me when I started.
  • Ask questions.. no matter how silly you think they are.. a good teacher will try and answer or point you to a place you can get them
  • Work on yourself... the more baggage you can clear... the more space you have for light and the better your healing becomes
  • Practice... often and if there is no-one about to play with... do it on your self
  • Practice different things... use your imagination... if you feel there is a blockage.. 'see' a huge firehose to clear it... if there is a small thing that needs removed... 'see' a laser to carve it out with precision
  • Learn as much as you feel comfortable with re the body and its structures
  • Look at other 'tools' and aids... crystals are an easy one to start with... the book.. the Crystal Bible... by Judy Hall (I think) is fab!!!
  • Meditate... to learn to still yourself and focus on being a channel for the energy
  • Work hard on learning 'protection' techniques
  • Work on 'lagging' your power... like a hot water tank... when we are working we give out a lot... consider 'lagging' the pipes/ourselves so that the energy is focused on where we want it to go rather than general have a wee bit everyone

don’t.

  • Take everything you see and hear as being gospel.. set in stone.. the ONLY or TRUE way to do it... find your own way of doing it
  • Forget to switch off the tap... one of the most common errors we ALL make is to have the tap on all the time... it wont damage you but you will feel knackered all the time and sometimes can even make you feel unwell and open to all the bugs and germs that are about.
  • Be tempted to pour all of you into the healing... how many times has a friend downloaded all their woes and worries on to you.. left feeling great.. and you feel like a wrung out dishcloth... once or twice is ok.. but if you are doing that all the time....
  • Be worried about the fact that its more difficult to get motivated to work on loved ones... often its easier to get a call to go 100miles to help than to just do some work on your nearest and dearest sitting by you in pain... it seems to be a common Healer problem.
  • Lastly - do NOT send healing to someone who has asked you not to do so. To force healing on someone could be very intrusive for that person and is completely unethical. Healing has to be accepted by that person, and if they are unwilling to accept it from you do not go ahead with sending healing, even if you feel the urge to.

This is my experience and my way of healing here, I hope this will help you along your own journey to find your own way as healer. Please do check our forums for more in depth information about healing.

Colours and Healing

By Scott4hypno

From what I have been able to find out from various people along my developmental path, and from brief references in books, colour within Spiritualism, Spiritual pathways and healing, is a very subjective subject. Each person has to work out their own meaning for that colour, for that person.

We have to ask for guidance to work out what the colours mean to us, before we can apply them to others.

As a Trainee healer I am very keen to learn and use as many tools and aids as I can to help me develop into a better equipped channel for the Healing powers to use.

I regularly see colours behind my eyelids as I am putting my hands on my patient and praying. I, like many of you, want to know many different questions...' Is this colour for the patient' ; ' Is it for me' ; ' Is that an indigo colour,( which means that the person has difficulty making decisions) or ' Is it more purple which is a healing colour'

All I can suggest is to constantly ask for help and guidance to understand and interpret the colours you are seeing to the benefit of the patient. Often they themselves will know the answer for why that colour.

Here are some meanings for the colours we see and use...

A quick meditation exercise for if you are not sure which colour is going to be of benefit to you;

RELAX- set up your safe area, free from distraction, noise, and interruption. Take three deep breaths, and let yourself calm down. You may find music and reduced lighting or candlelight, beneficial to your relaxation process.

Spend a few moments in a place of beauty and safety, and then imagine that you are sitting on a cloud of energy, or a ball of cotton wool, or some other 'soft' image. You can feel the build up of energy below you and gradually you feel the ground slipping away as you travel higher and faster upwards towards the universe.

The less you force this exercise, the faster you will travel and the better your results will be.

Once you have reached the highest point up that you wish to travel to, ask your spirit helpers to send a beam of colour to you, which will benefit you at this time.

It may be that like me you find a problem with visualisation, just relax and 'feel' the colour or experience.

Once you are ready to return, thank your helpers, and gradually feel yourself returning to the starting point. Feel your body returning to it's normal state, count backwards from 10 to orientate yourself back into your surroundings.

------------------

Your results from this exercise are right for you, no-one can tell you that you did it wrong, it is merely a way of obtaining help from your spirit helpers and guides. You may find that you doubt the results you received were correct, that’s fine, doubt makes us work harder at seeking the Truth.

Try to look at your results objectively, if the colour you were shown, or felt, was for example a very loud green or red colour, and you normally wear more subdued colours, why not consider wearing loud underwear. You could also consider a similar coloured handkerchief, or headscarf.

The colour you wear attracts the colour you need, and it also as you know affects your mood, and certainly other people's perception of your mood.

The following are some ideas of the meaning of certain colours within a healing context. Remember that it is important for your own development that you decide if the information is suitable and acceptable for your method of working with spirit.

If so read on....

  • RED The colour for energy. Breaks up arthritic crystals, releases
negative energies within the body; helps circulation and combats blood deficiency diseases
  • ORANGE Wonderful for asthmatics; fear; depression, and lethargy
  • Yellow Meditation colour. Very spiritual; brings love and peace into your home and life. It is a purifying ray.
  • Green Colour for the nervous system and especially good for muscle spasms. It is soothing. It is natures colour, so choose a shade that you feel comfortable with at that time.
  • BLUE Healing ray. Always seen when healing is taking place. It calms both the positive and negative electromagnetic fields around the body. Excellent for combating epilepsy, depression, fevers and inflammation.
  • VIOLET The colour for the nervous system, fatigue, and emotional problems. Finish off with Blue Rays.
  • AMETHYST. Excellent cure for insomnia.(If possible find an amethyst and keep it under your pillow)
  • PINK Calming colour; cools tempers and aggression- used in prisons and detention centres to ease frustrations and lower violence (information to hand now does support this statement as the use of colour to change emotional state is still being tested.)

colour....Uses

There are probably many more colours and combinations of colour which will aid you in your work with spirit, these are just a few that I have come across so far. Why not prepare a chart and keep it beside your absent healing book, or in the room where you practice your healing. We all forget things, and this chart with an example of your favourite shade of the colour, is a useful visual aid.

In everything that we do within the workings of Spirit we should remember to question, and to seek confirmation. A confirmation of the colour exercise may be for you to carry out the following Dowsing experiment. Remember however the phrase that springs to mind which is useful to remember

"Once said, Twice confirmed"

DOWSING (Colour)

  • Choose a pendant, ring, earring, etc., that you have worn often and attach it to a chain, piece of cotton, or thin string.
  • Take garments of different colours from your wardrobe, : Glove, hat, blouse, handkerchief, shirt, or any other article of YOUR clothing.
  • Take your dowsing tool and wind chain over index finger until about 6 inches are left to swing. Hold this over a colour that makes you feel really good, and improves your self-confidence when you are wearing it. Close your eyes and relax, and ask the tool if this colour is good for you. Wait thirty seconds, open your eyes and note the direction of the swing. ( POSITIVE)
  • Then take an item that you absolutely hate to wear; it making you feel depressed, etc. Carry out the same procedure and you will see that the pendulum has swung in a different manner. (NEGATIVE)
  • Finally take an article of clothing that when you wear it gives you no good or bad feelings; same procedure, should give you another reading( NEUTRAL).
  • This is the general dowsing principal, and you can apply this to other aspects.
  • Now try your pendulum over all the selected colours asking, "Will this colour benefit my self- healing and self esteem?" You can then select the most 'positive' result and choose your colour scheme accordingly, OR, you can simply verify the result you received from meditation.

N.B. Never work with a pendulum without first saying a little prayer of protection, and always when you are in a happy frame of mind. This will ensure a more accurate answer is received. In my opinion, A pendulum is not a party trick, or something to be played with. Like with Ouija you are opening a doorway, and as with all Spirit doorways, LIKE ATTRACTS LIKE.

Dangers of Healing

By Scott4hypno

There are few major dangers (definitely the wrong word but canny think of better lol) which will not be prevented by simple precautions, both Spiritually and physically. The physical ones are just as easy to combat as the Spiritual.

Common-sense tells you to have a chaperone when giving Healing to a member of the opposite sex. But it is also common-sense in this era of sue thy neighbour, to ensure that you have adequate personal insurance - Granny comes to see you with her bad arthritis and that night she dies in her sleep. Children/grand-children say that it's your fault because she was fine until she saw you. Could you prove that it was not your fault she died? Many honest and caring Healers who try to bring relief to suffering, are being sued by grieving, irate, and sometimes dishonest relatives.

There are several Healing organisations who can provide you with Training, Certification and Insurance which to me means peace of mind. It also means that if you have your certificates you are free to help in the NHS and Doctors surgeries if that is where you would like to help. The Church where I learned is affiliated to the Christian Spiritualist Society, so I have trained and been accepted as a Healer and trainer with the Healer Practitioner Association, Cardiff.

Another physical danger is that you will drain yourself and become ill. Once you start Healing and walking the Spiritual Path you will find that you will really start working. People will need Healing, you will be developing yourself at strange hours of the day and night, you may be working and you may have a family. Its very easy to over exert yourself.

As with everything else, give yourself space, time for you, and also time for your family. There is simply too much for one person to do. Try to lay aside times for working and times for yourself, and as much as possible, keep to it. Put it off until tomorrow, if you have been very busy.

When you give Healing, the Energies that flow through you will also help you. But if you are driving to and fro, keeping irregular hours, counselling and listening to others, your energy levels will become very depleted. Your Channel will not be quite so good, and you will therefore be using some of your own Life Energy to complete the Healing. This means that you are not doing your best for Spirit , the patient, or yourself. So time out, recharge, and go for it.

I have found that when I have given a Healing to someone, they have remained slumped in the chair, 'zonked out' in a really deep relaxed state that is sometimes difficult to rouse them from. This may happen to you when you start Healing.

DO NOT PANIC!! NEVER SHAKE THEM or SHOUT AT THEM!!! Simply talk quietly to them, inviting them to come back from the wonderfully peaceful place that they are resting in. Gently talk to them saying their name and that it is time to come back, and mentally tell your 'Guides' to go in and help them back. I have experience of excellent Healers who have gone to pieces when they have zonked a patient and can't get them to awake. It just takes a little time, praying, and talking and they awake feeling great. People do not die from deep relaxation, but it is VERY important to ensure that they are fully back with you before you leave them. They are in a vulnerable position which can be exploited by mischievous spirits who sometimes latch on to people and bring misfortune and other problems.

YOU are responsible for the patient whilst they have come to you for help. Simple precautions minimise all risks. So if your patient will not awaken, relax, pray to your God and Guides for help and protection for you and the patient. You may be able to visualise the patient surrounded in a bubble of pure white light, and if you can’t ‘see’ it, or visualise this, then just believe that it is there. Your patient will awaken normally, as if they had just dozed off. The important thing is not to worry, be calm and have Faith in yourself and your Guides.

and remember always... we never get into a situation that we are not capable of getting out of... trust yourself and know that you can!!

 Protecting self and sitter

By Scott4hypno

I have been asked to give my opinion about protection of self and others during Healing... this i feel is two sections.. firstly yourself and how do you stay safe and well and secondly others....

So how do I protect myself from others whilst Healing?

One of the most common things new Healers do is to leave the taps on all the time... and coupled with that they often give only of their own energy. When i give someone a Healing (described in another post)... i open taps to the Universe / God / gaia / the angels / wherever the source of this Love energy is and merely flavour it with my own experience and life as it goes through me and the intent that it does whatever is right for that persons higher good... Once I feel i am done.. i thank the Source and close the taps. When i walk through hospitals or even in the street... i no longer have the taps and my healing on full... i will make a ball of energy and send it to someone i can see is in need... but with experience i soon learned that feeling very drained after visiting in hospital or having my hands on full heat all the time wasnt good for my health... i was tired and had more colds etc...

so number one priority is to make sure we keep our energies up as much as we can... clear out the rubbish in our lives and life to make room to carry hold more energy... and realise that it is ok to think of ourselves... Its also ok to give Healing and the person not to have felt anything.. or got any apparent help from it... sometimes its just that that person has not been ready to change.. or they need their illness at this time to make them feel that they are special... or they have had huge benefit from the healing, in that they have found it easier to pass.. to die.. regaining some dignity and control at that difficult time one final thing about protecting ourselves... unfortunatley we are living in litigious times... so always look out for yourself with regard to working on a member of the opposite sex...males in particular though not exclusively... be very aware of where your hands are... where you do the Healing... maybe consider a chaperone or non-contact Healing where your hands are always clear of the body?... and insurance

protecting others

I always say a wee prayer to my god.. asking that I am the best channel and that they send the energies that this person needs.. to guard guide and protect us. If you are going to Healing for more than just family.. if you wish to do it for an extra income or just to help others.. then ii strongly recommend you go to a training organisation or join a 'church' that does training.. Christian Spiritualists do this.. as well as the SNU churches... or the Healer Federation and others will offer it.. No they wont teach you to heal.. merely teach you how to harness it.. how to be professional.. to give you ideas and examples of how to do it and develeop your skills and ability.. they also insure and certify you which means that should there be any problems... you and the person receiving healing has some protection and support One thing I noticed when i first started was that some people get sooooo relaxed whilst i was healing that they totally 'zonked' out.. that isnt uncommon. However when this happens we do have to have a little care with them....

How to deal with a 'zonked' person

DONT PANIC!!!!!

Dont shake them or shout in their ear... Do talk quietly and firmly to them... tell them its time they came back... and I generally ask my guides to step in and encourage them to waken up.....  keep talking to them.. saying their name... gently.. firmly... and keep on doing so until they awaken (they will usually tell you that they were somewhere wonderful and wished they didnt hav to come back lol) if they still wont come round.. just leave them for a moment.. have a seat or make a cuppa... and go back.. watching over them and start talking to them againin louder and louder spoken voice. you can also get them to 'see' a set of 5 stone steps and keep counting from 5 up to 1 telling them as they get to the top they will become more and more awake... and keep verbally walking them up the steps... again getting slightly louder each time... I think the longest it took me at first was about 10 minutes and I was terrified I can tell you.. I didnt know that they were just very very relaxed and would have woken up by themselves if i had left them.. probably after a couple of hours though lol As a Healer I have gone through many different styles and methods of doing what I do... learning from everyone and everywhere I could... even from those with the towering egos lol...

have fun with it... no you do good work... and always remember we are just a channel.. a vessel that carries the light we share with others...
