Crystals and Colour Healing

Written by Scott4hypno

This is just some of the explanations about the properties of crystals... often, as with colours etc... you will get different meanings from different books and teachers... IMO it is probably better for you to look at the crystal you want to use and 'ask' it if it is the right one for the task... you do get an answer lol... usually just a feeling...

the best book i have ever found is JUDY HALL's Crystal Bible.. easy to read with clear pictures of the crystals.. worth investing in.. but be warned......

you will start at A and say.. i want that i want that ohhhh I need that n that... and before u know it you have a house full of them lol

The Healing Properties of Stones

Agates

Agate balances, stabilises & protects. Medicinally the Agate stone has a long history, and it was prized as an amulet.

Blue lace Agate is lighter, calming the mind, and healing fiery emotions. All Agates assist physical and emotional security and can be used with other stones to balance the effect. Moss Agates cleanse the immune system.

Wonderful stones to alleviate stress, especially when held. They have bee used to protect the wearer from physical injury. Any Agates will ground sexual energy and regulate sex drive

Amber

Absorbs negativity, balances the Yin and Yang / male and female / positive and negative aspects. It brings life giving energy and the warmth of the sun. Nothing can hurt it or harm it. You can rub it on your skin or wear it. Water which has had Amber steeped in it is a good laxative.

Amber is a solidified resin, and when rested on the solar plexus / naval area, it will help dissolve emotional rigidity - the wall like protection that sometimes develops when a person is over sensitive and vulnerable.

Like honey it has a disinfectant, antiseptic effect, wonderful for post-operative scar tissue.

An Amber necklace can give excellent protection if living or working, in a negative or back-biting atmosphere.

Amethyst

Transmits, purifies and uplifts. A powerful healing gem, and it stimulates intuition and Spiritual awakening whilst calming passion, emotional violence and anger. An aid to chastity. Romans believed it prevented drunkenness (drank from Amethyst encrusted goblets)

Controls the emotionally overactive. Put under a pillow, it will aid sleeplessness, can be placed on the centre of the forehead as a treatment for headaches.

Placed on the Third Eye Chakra, it will stimulate inner seeing. It is considered to be a Spiritual stone, containing in its colour the Passion, the Truth and the Love of Christ. Amethyst has a gentler effect than Quartz crystal.

Aquamarine

Known as the ‘Water Stone’. The word aquamarine means ‘Water of the Sea’. It soothes, calms and brings tranquillity and peace- washing away anxiety and negative thoughts. It will soothe a fever and relax an overactive mind.

Aquamarine is a stone of protection against danger and seasickness when travelling by sea. It is supposed to bring good luck to fishermen; it cleanses the glands and nervous system, and eliminates excess fluids.

Drink water empowered with Aquamarine by soaking the stone overnight in a glass of water. Like all blue stones, it has the effect of clearing away the cobwebs in the mind. Blue stones are associated with the throat, like the
Turquoise.

New Age thinkers believe that we are all making a shift of identity, and Aquamarine will help make this Transitional period easier for us. It will help you to speak the Truth as you perceive it.

Bloodstone

Although Bloodstone is a gem that improves circulation, and is good for all blood related disorders(it was used to staunch haemorrhages), people with Hip and Joint problems feel they move more easily when wearing or carrying Bloodstones.

Like Agates, it stimulates physical strength, courage and balance. It balances out deficiencies of Iron in the bloodstream; cures nosebleeds; revitalises brain tissue; and helps move Oxygen through circulation. It is also a very reassuring, a calming stone to hold.

Bloodstone is supposed to have formed when drops of Christ’s blood fell to earth, and turned to stone. Women will find Bloodstone useful for regulating menstrual flow if they are troubled with bad periods.

Carnelian

Varies in colour from an orangey red, to reddish brown, and sometimes to salmon pink.

A motivating stone, it brings joy, happiness and blessings. The Carnelian was one of the most popular gems to be worn in amulets. It can help bring our ideas to fruition; can heal jealousy and envy; and can protect you from an envious person. It can energise us, stimulate courage, self confidence, ambition, and mobilise us into action, helping people to speak out and assert themselves.

Problems with digestion and appetite, including Anorexia, will all benefit from Carnelian. It is a stone to be used on the Spleen Chakra, just below the Chakra. As well as helping in the assimilation of food, it gives us the courage to face situations in life we need to face, to hold on to what we need to keep, and to release what needs to be released.

The Carnelian is good for the blood, for infections, and for balancing the thyroid. Mohammed and Napoleon both wore one.

Citrine

A member of the Quartz family, and has similar powers to the Topaz. It is connected to the Sun, and stimulates clarity in decision making; also communicative abilities, receptivity, organisational skills, and intellectual prowess. A good stone to hold when making a choice or assessment. It is an ideal choice for the office or boardroom when communication needs to be clear and concise with ideas freely expressed.

When writing it can stimulate the outer expression of inner ideas and creativity. Citrine opens the gap between the Lower and Higher mind, intuition and logic. It helps eliminate toxins physically and emotionally.

Coral

This simple stone from the sea is a good support for physical work. It is also protective, especially when travelling from one country to another. It was originally supposed to staunch the flow of blood, cure madness, and bring wisdom.

Coral comes in varied shades from white to pale pink, to orange ,to red, to brown.. It aids digestion and assimilation of food, and was used by the Romans to cure gum disease and toothache, as well as protection against negativity. It is particularly useful for people who worry too much about what other people think of them. It can help develop the attitude “ What other people think of me is none of my business”.

It is a balancing stone for people who work in the caring professions. It is an excellent gift for a child to wear for their first stone, as it will help prevent them from falling without impairing their sprit of adventure.

Crystal (Quartz)

This is the stimulating fire that shatters stagnation in your life, your thoughts and attitudes; it breaks open and calls into questions of reflex response, Crystals awaken us to higher levels of awareness. They are physically good for the heart and spine.

The milky or opaque Quartz is the feminine aspect, and the clear Quartz is the stimulating male force. The person who is badly affected by criticism and turns in on themselves, broods and stews about real or imaginary slights or injustices, will benefit from clear Quartz. The Crystal is a generator and activator of energy, and repels negativity on any level. Crystallised water (soaked overnight, or as little as twenty minutes), will cleanse the body of toxicity and recharge the electro-magnetic field around the body.

Clear Quartz can help with our ear problems, and hearing difficulties.

Rose Quartz is gentle, feminine, and soothing. It is good for fears, phobias, ache pains, and general vulnerability. It prevents wrinkles and stimulates a good complexion. Rose Quartz can heal a broken heart and feelings of inadequacy.

Smokey Quartz varies from shadow grey to almost jet black. It stabilises and helps us face our own shadow, or negativity. As you work through problems, the shadow that prevent us from seeing the light, frequently the Smokey Quartz will become clear. It absorbs negativity and is comforting to hold

Rutilated Quartz- with little threads of silver or gold running through it- can help focus/direct the mind. It also holds within it the connecting links to friends, family, future possibilities and past events.

Diamond

This is the stone of the mind because of its hard cutting edge. It symbolises durability, incorruptibility, and invincibility. ‘Amante De Dio’ (Italian for Diamond) means ‘Lover of God’.

It is sometimes used to prevent dreaming and stimulates clear mental sight or far seeing. The brilliance of Diamonds was supposed to shine a light that kept negativity at bay. While the Crystal is the gem of the age, the Diamond will be the gem of the future.

In Greek mythology, Eros, the god of Love is said to have used arrows tipped with Diamond to stimulate people to fall in love with one another. It is said that a man buys three Diamonds in his life - one for his wife, one for his mistress, and one for his wife when she finds out about the mistress.

Emerald

The jewel of Venus, of Love. It aids fertility, growth, honesty and self-discovery. It solves complex problems by stimulating the brain and the memory. It was once used to cure chronic infections, such as the plague, by rubbing it onto the sore.

It develops clear sight, in a physical sense, and clairvoyance regarding the future. Emerald is used as a cure-all. It was very popular with the Ancient Egyptians, and is a very good stone to wear if you are feeling vulnerable in a relationship.

It heals inflammation and in the past was used as an antiseptic. When your body needs peace and relaxation, hold it to the light and stare at it for a few minutes, until your mind is saturated with the colour. Then sit back, put the Emerald/emerald green coloured stone on your lap, and imagine the colour flowing into every cell, organ, muscle and tissue of your body. After ten minutes you will feel completely renewed and revitalised.

An Emerald / green stone, will help the Heart Chakra develop unconditional love.

Fluorite

Fluorite is an unique stone that can develop Spiritual awareness. It helps bring down into the material reality, ideas of the Spirit. It is usually coloured - purple, white, and green - and symbolises the qualities of unconditional love, knowledge of, and responsibility for, the dissemination of universal love, and the power of Divine Will. It thus represents the threefold aspect of God.

It is composed of Calcium and Fluorine; is good for bones, lower back pain, as well as teeth and gums, and is an effective treatment of gum disease. It helps release tightness, clicking jaw, and grinding.

Helps also, to synthesise ideas and bring people together. Fluorite is a transmuting agent that helps to ground excess energy, while assisting you to operate at maximum efficiency.

Garnet

The name Garnet comes from the Latin ‘Granatus’, - meaning ‘Like Seeds’.

They are good for tenacity, mental depression, and inactive thyroid. They balance the Root or Base Chakra - they can stimulate repressed sexuality, or modify overactive sexuality; are good for male-female sexual problems; and also for creative energy.

They are stones that will encourage you to be positive and make a success out of your life. If you are a ‘Shrinking Violet’, a Garnet will help to move you out of your shell.

They energise the circulation and bring it to normal, if deficient, such as the case of low blood pressure.

Statues of Isis often include Garnets in her ceremonial belt, because they represented her blood and her power.

Garnets and Carnelian’s both benefit from being shaped or cut.

Jade

Jade comes in many shades of green and is an absorptive stone. It soothes heals and balances; it is good for heart problems, asthma, and like Coral it is a wonderfully protective First stone for a child.

It is a soft, gentle stone and is believed to promote a long and prosperous life. It is good for flexibility and tolerance - a Stone of friendship. A lucky stone, much revered in China, it can absorb the judgement, criticism, or fear that holds you back from expressing love.

Taken in a drink, Jade is meant to strengthen the muscles, harden the bones, calm the mind, and purify the blood.

Kunzite

Kunzite, a feminine stone, is good for the skin, rejuvenates tissues, and activates the heart. It stimulates self love and acceptance, together with the ability to surrender to one’s feelings. It is relatively ‘new’ as it was only discovered in 1902, and is a beautiful pink orchard coloured gem.

If a woman has difficulty in expressing her femininity, the Kunzite can help her own femaleness. It can regulate menstrual problems which are often caused by not accepting one’s own femaleness.

Lapis Lazuli

Lapis Lazuli strengthens the body during Spiritual awakening, opens the mind to the Divine, protects against psychic attack and depression.

It enhances wisdom, inner vision, and mental clarity. It is the gem of truth, integrity - the stone of the Gods - and has a smattering of gold on deep, royal blue/black background. It is a royal stone and was revered in Ancient Egypt and in Jewish history, as it was probably the ‘Sapphire ‘ on the High Priests’ vestment.

It was also powdered for cosmetic uses around the eye

Malachite

This brilliant green mineral is good for the teeth. It also soothes and calms, thus helping to foster patience, physical endurance and inner peace. It used to be considered a talisman against falling and is particularly useful for children.

The Egyptians used it for eyeshadow, and to promote good eyesight. It was also a treatment for cholera. It is a stone to protect and strengthen the Heart Chakra. It helps to clear the mind of illusion and works on all types of depressive disease.

It is a fine balance for the physical body and soothes swelling and inflammation. It has an antiseptic quality and is good for rheumatism and arthritis; is good for the pituitary gland and for men who need to be more open emotionally.

Malachite may break if danger or disaster is imminent.

Moonstone

With it’s watery white, pearly sheen, Moonstone helps develop emotional sensitivity. It is supposed to arouse passion when exchanged between lovers, and to open the heart to giving and receiving love. A Moonstone will balance over sensitivity and generate the ability to nurture and care for others.

It is associated with the goddess Diana, and legends say that its brightness increases as the new moon becomes full.

It is good for the Pituitary gland and can stimulate the awakening of the inner woman in the man.

Opal

A gem of psychic awareness - and of the moon and water - it can increase everything we feel, as well as helping the assimilation of emotion. It is like a full moon that draws hidden emotions to the surface, causing great discomfort, and then flings it back in our face ( consider the word ‘lunatic’ derived from the French word ‘Lune’= Moon) Opals were believed to help woman giving birth to let go and relax. In the middle ages, blonde maidens valued Opal necklaces, as they believed they helped to keep their hair colour.

Opals help the body to assimilate protein. Some people suggest that the Opal is an unlucky stone. This belief has its origins in the 19th century and a story by Walter Scott, it is usually because it breaks easily and has to be kept separate from the rest of your jewellery. Because it is a ‘Water Stone’, the Opal likes to be bathed in fresh cold water.

The ‘Fire’ Opal stimulates passion, can heal the genital areas, and are good for the lungs.

Opals vary in colour from translucent cream to fiery black and blue. They usually reflect the rainbow colours, and were sometimes used to aid prophesy and divination

Pearl

The pearl is very feminine, sympathetic, and is also associated with the moon and water. It is emotion; chastity; purity; cures irritability; and restores harmony. A pearl that loses its lustre is considered unlucky - it has lost its life force. The Pearl fishers of Borneo preserve every ninth Pearl they find and put them in a bottle with two grains of rice for every Pearl. They believe that this will breed more pearls (of course for it to truly work, the bottle has to be stoppered with a dead mans finger.) Because the Pearl grows as a direct result of irritation, it holds the key as to how we can transmute and overcome oppression and pain. It is an example of how to turn the insignificant into the sublime and beautiful.

Peridot

Peridot, or Chrysolite as it is sometimes known, is similar in energy to the Topaz. Yellowy green in colour, Peridots are brilliant and sparkling - containing sun and life - and are antidotes to depression and jealously. They are good for the mind and liver.

Peridot was used in Atlantis, Ancient Egypt, and in the Aztec and Inca civilisations, where it was used to purify the mind and body. It aids the absorption of digested food, and will soothe inflamed or ulcerous conditions of the intestines or bowels. Like other stones which aid the digestive system, it also helps to clear emotional congestion, It is especially beneficial for the Spleen Chakra just below the navel, and will soothe the pancreas and gall bladder. It’s particularly good for the liver as it is cleansing. A good treatment for the Liver is to soak Peridot in a glass of water overnight, and drink.

Ruby

Known as the King of precious stones, it contains within it the bloodline of humanity, and the beauty of the soul. It stimulates the will to live, the initiation of ideas, the power of authority. The Ruby balances mind, body, feeling and spirit. It was believed that an
inextinguishable flame burned in this jewel, so strong it could actually make water boil.

It symbolises lasting love, marriage, royalty, as well as the power of the spirit. It stimulates abundance and can energise any part of the body.

The Ruby is connected to the ‘seed atom’ contained within the human heart. This seed atom is our connection to God and contains within its memory and knowledge of our past, present and future. The Ruby is therefore a powerful stone of the spirit, as well as energising the heart, and it can activate the memory of our Akashic record ( The mind and memory of God which holds the memory of everything that has ever happened ), It is better to learn to read your own Akasha - through meditation, stillness when listening - because you are the only person who really knows your own history.

A Psychic, or clairvoyant can attune ( like tuning in to a particular radio station) to the idea before the event, to the event itself, as well as to the result. A psychic does not necessarily tune into all three at once. You could go to three psychics and get totally different results. They may be part of the same story, but different bits, depending on what actually took place and their interpretations, which also depend on their own level of development.

By holding on and attuning to a Ruby, you can learn to get in touch with your Akashic record and can also learn to listen to your heart.

Sapphire

The Saphires deep blue shades are due to the presence of Ferric Iron or Titanium, while other colours of Sapphire such as Pink, Green, or Yellow, come from other mineral compounds.

It is an astringent for bathing and healing infection. It is also associated with heavenly virtue, devotion, self control - and is particularly useful for controlling desire.

The Sapphire, especially the Star Sapphire, is the stone of destiny that can stimulate us to reach for the stars. Some cultures believe that the three light bars which cross to form the six points on the surface of the gem, represent faith, hope, and, destiny. If you have an idea or ideal, especially if it would help humanity, a Star Sapphire can help you hold the dream and make it a reality.

Sodalite

Sodalite is a deep purple/violet blue. It contains within it the energy to increase spiritual awareness. If held in the centre of the forehead, against the Third Eye, it can stimulate the opening to a new perspective. It is a stone for the 1990’s, creating a link between onscious, super conscious and subconscious.

It balances the metabolism, lowers blood pressure and helps sleep. If one is drawn to this stone, it is often because of physical deficiencies within the body, especially the bodies production of insulin.

The power of Sodalite is amplified when used with another gem such as clear Quartz.

Sugalite

This pink, violet, blue stone is very beneficial to the development of the Third Eye, seeing or Inner Vision. It will clear away the mental cobwebs between intuition (right brain thinking) and logic (Left brain thinking) It balances the Pineal and pituitary glands, and can help children with learning difficulties, autism, dyslexia, and epilepsy. It is another gem of ‘now’ and also a wonderful aid to meditation

Tigers Eye

This is a rich, earthy stone, which steadies, solitude’s, brings together, and condenses wild thoughts and imaginings. It can help us to concentrate, and to bring our concentration into sharp focus to accomplish a particular goal.

Tigers Eye, sometimes called ‘Cats Eyes’; it’s meant to help us see in the dark, develop insight, and luck. It works on mass consciousness, helping us to separate false desire from real need.

It also helps to purify the body after over indulgence in rich foods. A fairly dense stone though lustrous; in the process of ‘becoming’ or evolving; it can help us move from density to light, while giving protection in the process.

Topaz

It is believed that Topaz can prevent colds, and Tuberculosis because it can activate the lungs, and has similar qualities to Amber.

Topaz means ‘Fire’ in Hindu. It brings light to life, relieves stress, and protects against danger. It comes in yellow, brown, and blue, the gold and amber shades being the most valuable.

If you put a Topaz under your pillow at night, it will soothe the nerves and energise the body during sleep.

Tourmaline

The name comes from the Singalese name ‘Tourmali’, which means a mixed coloured precious stone. The most popular type, a water melon pink and green combination. Because of it’s ability to produce negative and positive charges at either end, Tourmaline is a wonderful balance.

It can stimulate communication and co-operation between opposing forces. It is tranquil, calming, and good for lymphatic and digestive systems. One of the most versatile gems, it affects the mind and body, and does not absorb or hold any negativity.

Water melon Tourmaline acts upon the wearer as a polarity balance, and redirects energies that may be in the process of being congested or obstructed. The current transition on the Earth is balancing the male and female, and by its own balancing effort this gem eliminates misunderstanding, bigotry and intolerance, and is therefore another stone of particular value for the 1990’s.

It can assist in the forgiveness of self and others, and is particularly helpful when one is sensitive to criticism and others opinion. It allows the current to flow between mind/spirit and body/feeling.

By its combination of pink and green (pink within), it symbolises the tunnel experienced in death or NDE ( Near Death Experience), and can facilitate the movement of consciousness from one level to another - death and rebirth - remember that birth here is death on a different dimension, and death here is birth on another level. This stone is full of joy and can help a broken heart. (This is also a very powerful protective stone.. protecting against negative energy and situations.. recommended for all light workers)

Turquoise

To the Atlanteans and American Indians, the Turquoise symbolised the sky, the breath life and Spirit, and was a reminder that man is a creature of spirit rather than flesh.

In the 14th Century it was said that Turquoise protected horses from the ill effects of drinking cold water when overheated by exertion.

It is a stone of courage, fulfilment and success. It is a marvellous stone(colour) to wear around the neck if one is afraid of the public. The Turquoise represents strength and power.

It is sacred to the Pueblo Indians of New Mexico, and until the end of the 17th Century, it used to be worn by men only. It is a soft stone and can sometimes lose its colour. It is particularly good for the throat, lungs, and respiration, and due to its high copper content, it is a wonderful conductor of healing. It is also good for rheumatism and arthritis.
