What to do when you recieve a reading

When people first attend a meeting/service at spiritualist churches; or if they get a 'live' reading in a website like this...they are understandably very nervous, a little self-conscious and not really sure what to do or what is going on. Some people are quite scared.
A mediums job is to prove to you that there is Life After Death; to give you evidence that something happens after we die and that we can come back to our loved ones. They sometimes tell us things that only we could ever know, things that were entirely personal between our loved ones and us - e.g. a nickname between loved ones, a special name, a remembrance of a special holiday or trip. A responsible medium would never knowingly mention anything which would embarrass or humiliate you.
They may mention names to you, describe people or events or places to you. They may describe an incident or thoughts you had very recently. It’s amazing the number of times I’ve heard someone reply to the medium,” Yes, I was doing that this morning” or “I was looking at that only yesterday”
It is your job to try to make sense of the message as the medium is not usually aware of the whole picture. It is like a jigsaw. Sometimes you will immediately see the whole picture of what the message is all about, other times it may take several messages over a few weeks for it to fit in.
When you get your first message from the platform, as it’s called in the churches,or from here, listen with all your being. That sounds a bit ‘airy-fairy I know, sorry. The medium needs your full concentration and for you to speak up as loudly as is comfortable. Once you start to speak back to the medium, your voice reinforces the link that they have between you and the Spirit trying to reach you. I once heard a medium describe herself as on of those old fashioned telephone exchanges, with the plugs and wires who had to try and join up the two callers. That description made a lot of sense to me.
Or if it is in here then reply YES or NO or sorry dont know... a good quick HONEST response always helps the 'flow' and puts the medium at ease( they are nervous too usually)
If you receive something that doesn’t make sense, don’t immediately reply that it is wrong, instead, say that you will think about it. A ‘NO’ sometimes breaks the concentration, and usually slows things down. That does not mean that if something is completely wrong that you should accept it. No you certainly should not, it may be that the medium has a ‘crossed wire’ and the message may now be for someone near you. Sometimes when we are sitting there and we feel everyone is looking at us whilst we get our message, we cannot place a name or a person or an incident. I have personally said ‘Ill think about it’ or ‘I’ll hold it’ to messages that have suddenly became clear after the service and sometimes several weeks later during a conversation with someone else.
Its a two way communication.. with us being part of it too... but this communication does not include things like...
medium :- I feel i have a name beginning with J..us... oh thats jack he died last year when he was 20 in a motorcycle accident...
medium... yes thats correct...

When we get a message its really up to the medium to supply all the info from which we reach our own answers... do not give more info that you need to... a fake/poor medium will use that info and build on it to create a fantastic cold reading with you supplying them all the info.
A good medium... or more correctly an honest medium will be disappointed to get info from you.. because if they got their best ever reading/connection and in it they were getting that jack died on 9th january in a motorbike accident.. they can never give that to you.. or re-inforce the link because its public info... even at a later date they will be wary because 'is it just my memory of what u told them before?' will kick in... they cannot give you PROOF that it is your loved one.
Be vague if asked questions.. but be quick to answer yes if the link is good... it really helps with the flow and quality of that link for the medium.
As I have said before... sorry I cant take that/understand that.. encourages the medium to work harder at it... or admit defeat and look for the person that the message may really be for... however be aware that often a reading we get can be confirmed and explained at a later date.. info from family etc.. so do feedback to the medium if you get the chance... everyone likes to be recognised and praised
One final thing... when you are giving a message to someone... if they say NO.. to everything... that really does often feel like a door slamming.. it can mentally jar and demoralise the medium... especially if they are lacking in confidence or just starting out...
Tis better to say you will think about it but it doesnt fit at the moment etc...
And relax.
Opening and Closing - Control

When we start to develop our Psychic gifts, attend a church, or start reading about it, we turn on a light in the Spirit kingdom. This then attracts Spirit to us. The more we develop, the stronger the light, the more the attraction.
If you can, imagine the souls on the other side, many of whom have passed with things that they still wanted to do on the Material world, family needing their help, wanting to make contact.
If you were to go to a cash point to take out some money, and the machine kept on giving you money that you had not asked for, you would stay there until it stopped. You are the 'cashpoint', your light is on open for business.
These souls do not wish you harm, they just need to conclude their business affairs or just speak to their loved ones. You could stay awake night and day for weeks or months and still they would come. Therefore you have to divide your life into set times. Times for them (as much as you can spare or are prepared to do), and time for your life and family. Some people end up making themselves very ill because they are not taking time for themselves to recharge their batteries.
You may ask why does our guides not stop this for us. It may be that it is a test for you. How much do you care about Spirit? How much of your life are you prepared to give to them? How good is your control to stop the flow and organise your life? Also there is the fact that we have free choice and although Spirit will do all they can to help us and guide us along the path, we have free will. If we should choose to harm our bodies or minds, then that is our decision.
It is difficult to really explain how to do this because we are all different. How I imagine it is if you are at school or in the workplace, and you are getting bullied or harassed, people making demands that you are not happy with, then you have to be assertive. You decide whether or not to remain in the situation and if you do wish to continue where you are, then you find the strength from your own mind to say stop this. This is what I am prepared to do, and if it is not good enough for you then I may just go.
That was a bit simplistic because there is a lot of factors involved but I'm sure that you get the idea. You are in control and it is up to you to lay down the ground rules. some people have to upgrade their level of control, each time they reach a new level of development, often happening when there is money and other personal worries and crisis.
But they find their way to do it.
Others like me just seem to bumble along and never get this drama.. or probably more correctly... never notice it:lol: ... but in saying that... i personally close everything down and only open up when i am going to 'work'... when I CHOOSE TO WORK... but then my nature is the castle with the high tower.. keep... walls.. portcullis drawbridge and moat... and thats just for everyday wear:
The point is... you decide what is right for you... what you can and cant do... how much or how little time to devote to it... and remember spirits are not more advanced beings to whom we must bow our heads and listen to all the time.... its our life.. we are going to share it with them.. we will work with them... but we also have a material life and have to live.. earn.. pay bills and have some me time too...
If a person came into your house whilst you were watching telly and kept telling you you had to do something even when you said 'in a bit after corrie please' ... and kept on and on... you would probably say 'bugger orf and leave me alone'... if they kept you awake night after night with their chatter.. and you had a job and family... you would get cross... and rightly so...
same with spirit...
